Amy Waldman is a writer and journalist based in Brooklyn, New York. The author of two novels—The Submission (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 2011) and A Door in the Earth (Little, Brown, 2019)—her writing has appeared in The Atlantic, The New Yorker, Travel + Leisure and the Boston Review and been anthologized in The Best American Non-required Reading. Waldman was previously a reporter for the New York Times, including three years as co-chief of the South Asia bureau, and was a national correspondent for The Atlantic. She has received fellowships from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, MacDowell, and Art Omi Writers Residency. Waldman holds a BA in English from Yale University.
